ACCREDITEDMedford runs from Station Landing at Wellington, newer mid-rises with a front-loading pair in every unit and a garage too low for a work van, out to West Medford, where the houses are bigger, older, and heated by whatever the last owner converted them to.
Interstate 93 splits the city down the middle. Wellington and West Medford are a few miles apart on the map and much further at five o'clock, so we schedule by which side of the highway the address is on.
These stages may vary slightly depending on the type of appliance being repaired and the specific requirements of the client.

Access, parking and what the buildings here do to a service call.
It does. Medford has many private ways, and the city says it only enforces safety violations there: hydrants, driveways, corners. Everything else is the residents' arrangement, so tell us where a van will not annoy anyone. On a Resident Permit Parking street the city's visitor passes are scarce, two per household and two days a week, so do not spend one on us; a driveway is worth more.
Access to that closet and, usually, to the roof or the mechanical level where the condenser lives, which is management's to grant, not yours. Roughly a fifth of Medford homes heat with electricity, and many are exactly this: a heat pump on the roof and an air handler behind a louvered door. Book the roof key with the front desk the way you would a freight elevator.
During a declared emergency cars may park only on the odd or even side, depending on the year, and the emergency arteries are towed outright. Permit rules are suspended for the duration, and space savers are prohibited in Medford at any time. So we cannot count on a cleared spot in front of your house; if you have a driveway, that is where we ask to go.
Medford has a Historic District Commission, separate from the Historical Commission, and it administers the South Street Historic District. If your address is in it, exterior changes visible from the street go through the commission before a condenser bracket goes up. Elsewhere in the city the constraint is different: the demolition-delay process for old houses and, more often, the plain question of where the line set can leave the wall.
