Only in winter. From December 1 through March 31 no vehicle may park over an hour between 2 and 6 a.m. on any street, private ways open to the public included. A daytime repair is untouched. If a job needs a second day and your car must leave the driveway, it cannot spend the night at the curb; municipal lots take residents with a police permit.
Newton has four local historic districts, Upper Falls, Chestnut Hill, Newtonville and Auburndale, close to nine hundred properties, each with its own commission.
